Alternative Wedding Style at the Tying the Nott Wedding Fair

by | Feb 27, 2018

Hello my loves – a very sleepy Momma Flipster here. I’ve just got back from a non stop day at Tying the Nott wedding fair. It was blinkin brilliant!! The fair is aimed at non traditional couples, and was jam packed full of alternative suppliers.

Glitter, corsets and alternative style from the Glitter Girls Collective

Myself and my glitter sisters from The Glitter Girl Collective had a room to ourselves at the fair, and we made the most of it. Note to all wedding fair organisers – having a sofa for consultations is a great idea!

We had so much eye popping colour on display.

The word of the day was definitely “WOW!”

Dramatic wedding dresses without the crazy prices.

Kate somehow squeezed 6 dummies in gloriously fluffy tutus into her section of the room and roped myself and Emily into being live models too. I truly admire her attention to detail, from the individual rhinestones on her peacock creation, to the teeny tiny flowergirl fluffies.

Off the peg, vibrant wedding invites and styling

Emily turned the blank canvas into a riot of colour with her props and stationery. The table plan she created to accompany our peacock shoot drew lots of attention, along with her off the peg vibrant watercolour stationery. The bubblegum colourway is my fave. Just look at the detailing in the Peacock themed invites she had on display. I love the ickle peacock seal and feather. The colours tie in perfectly with Kate’s dress, and the MAHOOSIVE felt botanical bouquet I created.

Alternative wedding bouquets and accessories.

My corner of the room looked like a glitter unicorn had exploded (in a good way!) There was a bit of something for everyone. It was lovely to meet so many couples who share my love for all things geeky. From Starwars, to Disney, Marvel, Tim Burton, Game of Thrones and more. Hearing how you plan to incorporate them into your celebrations was inspiring. My Nightmare Before Christmas Felt and Charm bouquet was most popular I think. My rainbow rose bouquet was a close second. Our Emily escorted it on the catwalk, whilst wearing one of Kate’s rainbow wrap around tutus (she’s such a show off!!)

Add a colour pop with affordable wedding accessories.

Kate’s ivory tutu was cleverly overlaid onto a cheap and cheerful Lindy Bop dress. We added in one of my felt flower belts, and wham – from cheap to chic! Accessories are a great way to add colour pops and personalise your outfit, without breaking the bank. My belts start from £25. The belt with a glitter swirl here is £35.

Thank you to Caz and Suzi for organising the fayre – you must be shattered! The Glitter Girls will be signing up for the next one, and can’t wait to see lots of you lovely moomins again. I think I’ll let my sore feet recover first though.
